Single padel court dimensions

A singles (1 vs 1) padel court is usually 20 × 6 m, about 66 × 20 ft. It is a common size, not an official one: the FIP only defines the doubles court. Here is what that means, how it compares with doubles and where a singles court fits.

Drawn in meters: 20 m is 65.6 ft and 6 m is 19.7 ft. The lines are drawn where they are on a doubles court; the sources below give the outer size of the singles court, not its lines.

Is 20 × 6 m an official size?

No. The FIP, Rules of Padel (review of application January 1, 2026) describe one court, a rectangle 10 m wide by 20 m long inside, and say nothing about singles. We found no federation or standard that defines a singles court. The 20 × 6 m size is the one padel publishers give: “20m x 6m in single version”, in a court-size guide by Padel Addict, The sizes of a padel court: how much space do you need to build your padel club (November 20, 2024), and 20 × 6 m in a guide by Padel Market, Can you play padel with 2 people? (July 2, 2026), which describes singles as an informal format and says every official competition is played as doubles.

So build it as a convention, and ask the manufacturer for the exact inside size, the side walls and the doors of its singles model in writing.

Where a single padel court fits

A singles court earns its place where a doubles court does not fit: a strip along a wall, the end of a warehouse, a narrow yard. In the planner, tick the singles option and it places every doubles court that fits first, then fills what is left with singles courts; if no doubles court fits at all, it tries singles on its own. Outdoors, with the planner's minimum clearances, a 40 × 80 ft lot takes no doubles court but one singles court, and so does a 30 × 80 ft lot; see the backyard padel court page for the other lot sizes.

Indoors, in our standard clear-span warehouses, adding singles courts gains courts in these sizes:

BuildingDimensionsDoubles+ Singles
8,000 sq ft71 × 113 ft (21.5 × 34.5 m)11
18,000 sq ft107 × 169 ft (32.5 × 51.5 m)42
20,000 sq ft112 × 179 ft (34 × 54.5 m)42
25,000 sq ft125 × 200 ft (38 × 61 m)62

Calculated with the planner's engine: clear-span buildings with 8 m (26 ft) clear height, one entrance on a long side and the portal's minimum clearances.

Frequently asked questions

What are the dimensions of a single padel court?

20 × 6 m, which is 65.6 ft × 19.7 ft (about 1,290 sq ft): the length of a doubles court with the width cut to 6 m. It is the size in common use, stated by padel publishers, not a measurement from the FIP rules.

Is there an official single padel court size?

No. The 2026 FIP Rules of Padel only describe the 20 × 10 m court, and official competitions are doubles. The 20 × 6 m singles court is a convention.

How much smaller is a singles court than a doubles court?

It is 6 m wide instead of 10 m: 120 m² (1,292 sq ft) of court against 200 m² (2,153 sq ft), so 40 % less floor inside the walls. The length, 20 m (65.6 ft), is the same.

How much space do you need for a single padel court?

More than the court: in the planner, with its minimum clearances, a 40 × 80 ft outdoor lot takes one singles court and no doubles court, and so does a 30 × 80 ft lot. 50 × 80 ft takes a doubles court.

Can I put a single padel court where a doubles court does not fit?

That is what singles courts are for: a strip too narrow for a doubles court. In our warehouse layouts, adding singles courts gains one or two courts in 4 of the 13 sizes.

Singles vs doubles padel court: which should I build?

Doubles is the game everyone plays and the only official one, so a club builds doubles first. Singles makes sense to use leftover space, for training or for a narrow backyard.
